You should receive a JET Return Travel Itinerary form from your Contracting Organization in late May or early June. Please provide three possible flights for the date you wish to return home and hand it to your supervisor as soon as possible.

You have up to one month after your contract ends to leave Japan if you wish to use the flight provided to you under the JET Programme Contract. For example, if the last day of your contract is August 5th, the departure date of your return flight must be no later than September 5th.  If you were to do so, don’t forget to make arrangements to change your status of residence visa into a tourist/visitor visa.

It depends on your CO how you will be reimbursed for the flight. Some BOEs will pay for the ticket or deposit the money into your account. It’s their choice.

*You are not eligible for the flight home if you enter into a work contract in Japan within a month of completing your contract with JET.
